Something I really enjoy doing is going to shows. I really like music, and love going to support my favorite artist. When I am in attendance it makes me feel apart of their creative world and their musical journey. So here are my Top 5 Concerts I have been too:
1. John Mayer @ St.Paul, MN
This was one of the first major concerts I attended. I was fresh out of high-school and i heard about this show on John's website and round up a group for this wonderful adventure. Jordan aka Barry White and Todd were my partners in crime for the number one concert on this list. I am kinda of bias with this decision because John Mayer is my favorite artist but the thing that stands out the most is the atmosphere he created in the Xcel Energy Center. The whole crowd was singing along and I was loving every minute of it. If you know me at all you know I love to sing, I can't sing but I sure do love a good old fashion sing along.
2. Hangover Tour: Kid Cudi & Asher Roth (feat. Pac Div & B.O.B.) @ Denver, CO
This was an awesome example of perfect timing. I have recently become extremely fanatic about Kid Cudi. I think he is a great example of dreaming big and pursuing it. He is really talented and it shows in his mix tapes and new album Man on the Moon: The End of Day. The summer basketball team i was coaching was heading down to Denver to play and I came across Cudi's tour dates on his website. The concert was amazing, it was in a great venue (similar to West End Cultural Centre) and it wasn't crowded. Ee had a sweet concept to his show and we had great spot on the floor to wave are hands in the air and wave them like just don't care.
3. Coldplay @ Winnipeg, MB
I don't know what I never bought tickets for this concert in the first place. I was getting really jealous that a lot of my friends were going to the show. The day of I got a random text message from a friend that asked if I wanted to go to the show! With very little hesitation I said "Boom! Lets do it. I'm in!" Like the other shows I was blessed to have great seats. Chris Martin and the gang really know how to put on a concert. They did not hold back at all, they did everything so that everybody at the show would have a good time. They had 90 foot cat walk, two sided projection screens, globe like projection screens, and even performed two mini sets in the audience at the back of the MTS Centre. The fact they care so much about there fans to perform all over the arena and have visuals to see from any seat, makes you respect them as people and artists. I didn't want to concert to ever end, it was AMAZING, It felt like I was in a dream land.
4. Glow in the Dark Tour: Kanye West @ Winnipeg, MB
I am a huge fan of Kanye West. I think he is extremely talented and living example of stepping outside the box. I really enjoy blog reading and Kanye's is my number visited blog. He writes on it everyday and post stuff that he finds interesting. When designing the Glow in the Dark Tour, he would post the progess on his blog, everything from set design to visual graphics. Being able to see the final product was super cool and interesting. The best way to describe the show is that it was a hip hop musical. Kanye used his songs and created a story line of a space traveler that crashes on a strange plant and all he wants to do is get home. Mr. West brings so much energy and hype to the show its ridiculous! Not to mention Lupe, N.E.R.D. and Rihanna opened for eezy.
5. Future Sex Love Show: Justin Timberlake @Winnipeg, MB
I have always been a fan of JT. He can sing, dance and even act, can you say triple threat. Justin built a custom circle stage for this concert and it really made it enjoyable for everyone. Everybody could see him at some point of the show at close range, the girls at the show really enjoyed this. He had timberland on the tour, so he came on stage for a couple songs and was the DJ during the intermission between Justin's sets. Justin brought amazing energy and really displayed his talent. Man can the kid dance.
Honorable Mentions: Death Cab for Cutie, Jack Johnson, The Format, Backstreet Boys
