Well That's a First
So I recently started my student teaching and let's just say its been an experience. Today I was broken really well into my career with a great student - teacher experiences. Let me set up the scenario.. before the start each class we allow the students to have some free time to get active right away. That specific class was different cause we were doing interval training and I was instructed to get the class started right away, which meant no free time.
One class I had a student come up to me to ask for a basketball, for the sack of the story he will be named Timmy.
Timmy - "Can I have a basketball?"
Mr. Sung - "No we need to get started right away, so you should start stretching"
Timmy - "F**K You!"
Mr. Sung - "Excuse me?"
Timmy - "This is messed!" (walked away)
I let this slide because for one thing I was shocked and another because he walked away and I had to get the rest of the class organized. I then went up to him to figure out why he didn't want to participate in the interval running. He explained that he thought it was stupid and just didn't want to do it now. I then explained to him that since he was trying out for the basketball team this is great timing to get in shape before the season. Timmy then hit me up with another excuse that he didn't have the right shoes. I told him then to run barefoot like the long distance runners in Africa.
By the end of the class, Timmy had ran the whole time and was not dropping F bombs when the interval training was over. So it was a first to get the bomb dropped on me by a 7th grader and to motivate a student to participate in class. All in all a good days work.
