K Saint Mixtape Release Show

Last night my boys (Garcia, K, Christian, and Cam) and I went down to K-Town to watch are main man  K Saint perform and release his new Mix Tape. The winter showcase featured other bands but everybody was on the dance floor grooving when Saint got on the microphone. My boy's got talent, his personality really shines through in his performance and lyrics. K Saint has an act for making you bounce and party party! (ha ha ha) There was a huge surprise during the set when C Flow (Cam) jumped on stage to grab the mic and spit some fire. All in all a great show, here are some pictures from release show enjoi

What Do You Want for Christmas? A Short Film

So its been snowing here for the past couple of days and the roads have gotten pretty bad. I have not been able to make it back home this Christmas Day and my bro and his lady have left for Mexico, so i'm home alone. With 5 NBA games on and some food I have been able to past the time pretty well. I came across this video and thought I'd post it for the holidays. Merry Christmas everybody.

I know its corny but I named my mac book "MO"...Mo the Mac ahah. Anyway Mo took a hit today, the base piece near edge of the left corner of the keyboard has started to chip off! I didn't drop MO or treat him with any physical harm at all. I've had Mo for quite some time, so I will look into repair options but it may come down to breaking off the damage area.

RENT

This past Friday, I attend the famous play/broadway production RENT. I have never seen or heard the story before, so this was an exciting experience for me. One thing that topped it off for me was my good friend Adam "action jackson" Hurtig was casted for one of the main roles. I've always known Adam as an athlete and not as a actor, I didn't even know he could sing! So it was going to be interesting to see him in the different light.

So there I am in the back of the theatre sitting beside my buddy Mike and we are both super giddy to see are boy sing his little heart out. Bam, lights out, spot light on stage on who else but "Action Jackson"! No time wasted, Adam starts to sing and moving around the stage all wirey like he is on the basketball court. ahaha Adam did such a great job, the part he got was a character named Roger Davis who is an inspiring film maker in the story. I was so entertained all night, it was a great show put on by everybody involved. Congratulations to Adam on pursuing something so amazing.

Here is a great clip of the cast singing the very popular Seasons Of Love one last time at the end of the show. enjoi

Man vs Food

One of my favorite shows to watch is the travel networks "Man vs Food". Host Adam Richman is just an average joe who loves to eat. Growing up in the food mecca of NYC, Adam Richman began his love affair with food early on, sampling all the diverse culinary specialties The Big Apple had to offer.
Adam sets out to travel the country in search of the best places to do some serious eating. Adam begins his quest to find the best traditional food the nation can serve up. After hunting down the can't-miss flavors that make up each region's unique culinary history, Adam will take on the city's toughest food challenge. Whether he's devouring the Atomic Hot Wings platter in Pittsburgh, or a 13-pound pizza in Atlanta, Adam digs in with zeal becoming our ambassador to all things delicious.

Well That's a First

So I recently started my student teaching and let's just say its been an experience. Today I was broken really well into my career with a great student - teacher experiences. Let me set up the scenario.. before the start each class we allow the students to have some free time to get active right away. That specific class was different cause we were doing interval training and I was instructed to get the class started right away, which meant no free time.
One class I had a student come up to me to ask for a basketball, for the sack of the story he will be named Timmy.
Timmy - "Can I have a basketball?"
Mr. Sung - "No we need to get started right away, so you should start stretching"
Timmy - "F**K You!"
Mr. Sung - "Excuse me?"
Timmy - "This is messed!" (walked away)

I let this slide because for one thing I was shocked and another because he walked away and I had to get the rest of the class organized. I then went up to him to figure out why he didn't want to participate in the interval running. He explained that he thought it was stupid and just didn't want to do it now. I then explained to him that since he was trying out for the basketball team this is great timing to get in shape before the season. Timmy then hit me up with another excuse that he didn't have the right shoes. I told him then to run barefoot like the long distance runners in Africa.
By the end of the class, Timmy had ran the whole time and was not dropping F bombs when the interval training was over. So it was a first to get the bomb dropped on me by a 7th grader and to motivate a student to participate in class. All in all a good days work.

Onerepublic

So I recently got the new OneRepublic album and its something special. They have a lot of great songs and use many instruments to get a full sound. The album is titled "Waking Up" and the song "Secrets" is one of my favorite tracks. Here is the new video for it, enjoi

The Berrics is one of my favorite websites to visit daily. I am a huge fan of skateboarding and the culture. The Berrics has recently developed a huge fan base by developing a SKATE competition or what they called it BATTLE AT THE BERRICS, recently they wrapped up BATTLE AT THE BERRICS 2, were Chris Cole and one of my favorite skaters Paul Rodriguez faced off in the final. This video really shows you how talented pro skaters are...enjoi

The Season

One of my favorite internet shows currently is one called The Season. Its a documentary following a Findlay College Prep, a private high school basketball team. They recently won a national championship last year and season 2 of the show they are chasing down another one. The interesting part is that there are Canadians playing on this team and doing big things! Here is the most recent episode called Ring the Bell. enjoi

Battle Studies

So John recently released his new album titled Battle Studies. I have been anticipating this album for quote some time and it has lived up to what I thought it was going to be. It has a bit of a feel from all his albums; with pop, blues, and acoustic tunes it will reach a lot of listeners. The album is crafty and detailed but at the same time simplistic with it melodies.  This a bit of a concept record, battle studies has a war theme or military type concept in regards to life and a relationship (cough.. Jennifer Aniston). Mayer expresses this through his songs obviously and his song titles. Recently at a live show Mayer said
"The year was 2000 and there was a record called Room for Squares, and it was about this broke kid who didn't know what was going on in his life. Then I made a recorded that came out today called Battle Studies about a kid that doesn't know what's going on in his life"
Well I hope you all take a listen and here is a great live clip of the first track on the album..enjoi

Top Five

Something I really enjoy doing is going to shows. I really like music, and love going to support my favorite artist. When I am in attendance it makes me feel apart of their creative world and their musical journey. So here are my Top 5 Concerts I have been too:

1. John Mayer @ St.Paul, MN

This was one of the first major concerts I attended. I was fresh out of high-school and i heard about this show on John's website and round up a group for this wonderful adventure. Jordan aka Barry White and Todd were my partners in crime for the number one concert on this list. I am kinda of bias with this decision because John Mayer is my favorite artist but the thing that stands out the most is the atmosphere he created in the Xcel Energy Center. The whole crowd was singing along and I was loving every minute of it. If you know me at all you know I love to sing, I can't sing but I sure do love a good old fashion sing along.

2. Hangover Tour: Kid Cudi & Asher Roth (feat. Pac Div & B.O.B.) @ Denver, CO

This was an awesome example of perfect timing. I have recently become extremely fanatic about Kid Cudi. I think he is a great example of dreaming big and pursuing it. He is really talented and it shows in his mix tapes and new album Man on the Moon: The End of Day. The summer basketball team i was coaching was heading down to Denver to play and I came across Cudi's tour dates on his website. The concert was amazing, it was in a great venue (similar to West End Cultural Centre) and it wasn't crowded. Ee had a sweet concept to his show and we had great spot on the floor to wave are hands in the air and wave them like just don't care.

3. Coldplay @ Winnipeg, MB

I don't know what I never bought tickets for this concert in the first place. I was getting really jealous that a lot of my friends were going to the show. The day of I got a random text message from a friend that asked if I wanted to go to the show! With very little hesitation I said "Boom! Lets do it. I'm in!" Like the other shows I was blessed to have great seats. Chris Martin and the gang really know how to put on a concert. They did not hold back at all, they did everything so that everybody at the show would have a good time. They had 90 foot cat walk,  two sided projection screens, globe like projection screens, and even performed two mini sets in the audience at the back of the MTS Centre. The fact they care so much about there fans to perform all over the arena and have visuals to see from any seat, makes you respect them as people and artists. I didn't want to concert to ever end, it was AMAZING, It felt like I was in a dream land.

4. Glow in the Dark Tour: Kanye West @ Winnipeg, MB

I am a huge fan of Kanye West. I think he is extremely talented and living example of stepping outside the box. I really enjoy blog reading and Kanye's is my number visited blog. He writes on it everyday and post stuff that he finds interesting. When designing the Glow in the Dark Tour, he would post the progess on his blog, everything from set design to visual graphics. Being able to see the final product was super cool and interesting. The best way to describe the show is that it was a hip hop musical. Kanye used his songs and created a story line of a space traveler that crashes on a strange plant and all he wants to do is get home. Mr. West brings so much energy and hype to the show its ridiculous! Not to mention Lupe, N.E.R.D. and Rihanna opened for eezy.

5. Future Sex Love Show: Justin Timberlake @Winnipeg, MB

I have always been a fan of JT. He can sing, dance and even act, can you say triple threat. Justin built a custom circle stage for this concert and it really made it enjoyable for everyone. Everybody could see him at some point of the show at close range, the girls at the show really enjoyed this. He had timberland on the tour, so he came on stage for a couple songs and was the DJ during the intermission between Justin's sets.  Justin brought amazing energy and really displayed his talent. Man can the kid dance.

Honorable Mentions: Death Cab for Cutie, Jack Johnson, The Format, Backstreet Boys

Michael Jackson - This Is It

I came across this but I'm not 100% sure if this is the new single that is being release soon to hype up the documentary coming out on the 28 called "This Is It". This Is It is the debut single off the soundtrack/album for Michael Jackson's This is It. Take a listen and in a couple of days i find out this isn't the real deal i will correct it. RIP MJ

iPhone Picture of the Week

This week's photo was taken from the car while driving in the first snowfall of the season. So much for the nice fall, it took a downhill plunge after those couple nice days at the end of September. This is on the way home from school, the snow was coming down pretty heavy. The trees looked really cool, they were covered with snow and gave them that frosted look. enjoi

Backstreet's Back

So some of you might not know this but I was and still am a fan of the Backstreet Boys. They recently dropped their new album titled This Is Us. Straight Through My Heart is the first single off the record and is a song that basically expresses which direction the album is going. BSB is back to their roots of pop/dance numbers and lets just say.."if it ain't broke, don't fix it". They made their careers off music like this, they should have never gone away from this in the first place. Well I'm currently listening to this and enjoying it a lot.

Mr. Hudson - Time

Mr. Hudson is an artist currently signed with GOOD Music family (Kanye's label) and is something you might think doesn't fit the mold of Hip Hop, but he is a unique artist with a lot of potential. You may have heard his song Supernova featuring Kanye West but he is currently ready to drop his first album. I am currently in love with the song called Time, here is a vid of him working on it in the studio. enjoi
