Sequence Champs!

So the first games night in a very long time, I was introduced to this new game called Sequence. From my understand this game is not that new, just to me. This is a highly completive game but put the game in room of 8 highly competitive people the stacks get raised even higher.. to add to that it was the battle of girls vs boys. Sequence is a card/board game which involved an over all goal to form a row of 5 chips before the other team does. The night started out slow, with a strategic win from the males but was quickly answered by with a W from the ladies.  It came down to the wire in the 3rd deciding game but was the boys who came out of the dust with the Sequence Championship! Thanks for the fun game night everybody.  We did not film are reaction when we won but it was kinda something like the video below..enjoi

What Teachers Make

I'm pretty confident that everybody knows that I am in school to become a teacher, yes I did have to put my dreams on making the NBA on hold for now. It is currently reading week at the university and for us education students we don't get this break, we will be attending classes still due to are short term at the university because of our student teaching block. Of course instead of studying I surfed the net and watched the Olympics (Go Canada!) I came across a wonderful poet, Taylor Mali. He wrote a poem called "Teachers Make a Difference" and after you watch this you will understand why so many people want to become teachers..not just for the holidays. enjoi

NBA All Star Disappointment :(

The NBA All-Star weekend is by far the most entertaining all star sports weekend out there. Unfortunately the hype did not live up and the dunk contest was a big let down. The Sprite amateur and NBA D-League dunk contest were both better then what we saw last night. The skills night started off great with the Team Shoot out, Point Guard Challenge and 3pt contest. The dunk contest was a huge let down with no hype involved and dunkers that didn't even look like they wanted to be there. The highlight for me was my main man mr. MVP Steve Nash putting on a show and bring lots of humor to the event. From his flexing intro..to trying to block JW in the Point Guard event. ha ha check out his latest Vitamin Water Ad enjoi

More Than A Game

More Than A Game gets 'more than' 2 thumbs up from me! Ok everybody knows I love basketball and I'm quite the Kobe Bryant fan and not to much a fan of the man child Labron James. But! this movie is amazing! One of the best basketball documentary I have ever seen. It was a great idea by the director to follow the Fab-5 during their high school years, because it's a great story and they all became big time in the future...especially LBJ. It is an inside look of the boys growing up playing AAU basketball together and their journey to a national high school championship. "we ready...we ready...we ready.. " is the song they cheered before they played and you better be ready when you watch this movie. enjoi

Senior Night

So today marks a special day for two of my friends, #8 Kait Flett & #14 Michele Hynes. They have played and contributed to an inspiring 5 years of CIS Basketball for the Manitoba Bisons. Today is their last home game and playing at this level is quite the accomplishment. They both only know one way to play when they step on the court and thats leaving it all out on the floor. Two of the most competitive people I have ever met, I have learned and enjoyed cheering for them. I just wanted give these two their props and say congrats to the both of them. Good Luck tonight!
